some people report MMS issues, but I see people having the same issues with Android and MMS on ATT and TMobile too. I have used both the Straight Talk ATT and Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM in my Google LG Nexus 5 and data works very well. I think the problem is the combination of iOS and Straight Talk haven’t been tested enough by the two companies. It’s gotten worse for others, especially those reporting slow data.

While things have gotten better for people like me, I don’t need to SIM swap or install APNs (starting with TFW 15.6) and I get LTE on my iPhone 5s. It was unfortunate that the iPhone incorrectly recognized the Straight Talk SIM and programmed the ATT APN settings and that the APN settings were hidden on the phone, but once you worked around that things were good. When I started this site, wrote about the SIM swap trick needed to get MMS working. If I had some of the issues that reader have reported I would be trying out other carriers too. What about you? Tell us if you have updated? And how did it go? Normally, I’d just wait, if I weren’t updating to post the results here.

I’ll update my iPhone to iOS 7.1 as soon as I can and report back if I have any issues.
The reader reported measuring faster data speeds with the update. It appears they have decided not to change the HSPA+ indicator from 3G back to 4G. One reader has already reported updating to iOS 7.1 and TFW 16.0 with out a problem. It doesn’t look like iOS 7.0.x will get the TFW 16.0 update, at least for now I did a little checking and found that iOS 7.1 will come with carrier update TFW 16.0. I guess the Apple update servers are overloaded. My iPhone started to download it but my phone show there was 2 hours remaining.
I saw that the iOS 7.1 was available today so I tried to do the over the air update tonight. What about you? Did you upgrade? How did it go? Or are you going to wait? Share your experience and plans the comments. Think carefully before you decide to upgrade to iOS 7.1. Not the best, but I attribute that to time of day and location. My slowest measurement was about 6mbps down and 5 mbps up. I don’t blame this on the update and I find my LTE speeds to always vary significantly between test. My network speeds seem a little slower for LTE.
